"... The Marriage of Figaro, although a well-known opera to the Bulgarian public, is performed rarely and not everywhere. The Stara Zagora Opera House, for example, has had only one production of this opera - the premiere of which was on October 27, 1966, notes Denis Ivanov, director, author of the set and costumes.
The Opera in a Suitcase project is designed to attract a wide range of audiences. It is a format that follows the entire dramatic and musical action of the opera, avoiding the recitatives and finales of the first three acts. This format makes the show mobile and it can be performed anywhere and on different stages, even in atypical performance spaces, but its strongest quality is that this lightness makes the austere classic accessible and thus more audience involvement.
