The comic opera "Don Pasquale" is a true benchmark in the opera-buffa genre - a funny story, witty humour, comic situations with unexpected twists... The sympathetic miser Pasquale, his amorous nephew Ernesto, the inventive rogue Malatesta and the charming and cunning Norina present a gallery of vivid characters. Indeed, Donizetti, the great Italian master of the Italian bel canto, expresses his bitter irony about love, marriage and the hypocrisy of life. The characters thus become full-blooded and convincing characters. The action is dynamic, as in any comic opera. And the plot is about events that abound in today's times - an elderly man with money who wants a young wife.
